What do worries and negative thoughts elicit? Generally they flood and constrict our thoughts & response to the point where we cannot think clearly and/or our:

- thoughts race and/or constrict
- breathing quickens
- body freezes
- chest tightens
- hands feel clammy

Breathe Out - Break Out workshops are designed for you to create and infuse mindfulness skills to increase your ability to tolerate feelings of distress and regulate your emotions. Techniques focus on grounding and resourcing exercises shown to be effective in managing worries and negative thoughts + increasing your own resiliency. We specifically tailored the techniques for Practitioners to use in their practice.

​Mindfulness and meditation are scientifically proven to be effective tools for reducing stress and managing stressful moments by and increased ability to:
  • work with strong regulate emotions
  • increase awareness
  • understand your emotional intelligence
  • strengthen decision making
  • develop confidence
  • learn to be nice to yourself

These therapeutic models offers supportive techniques and tools that are useful for all people experiencing an anxious or panicked moment. The handouts, below, are combined from these therapeutic influences:

Elizabeth Kapstein

​Elizabeth Kapstein, LCSW-R, CASAC, EMDR is a trauma & addictions informed therapist. She specializes in anxiety reduction, mood disorders, life transitions, relationship issues, and gender and sexuality affirming therapy. She presents frequently on anxiety reduction for People Who Stutter. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Psychodrama. She co-founded the Manhattan Stuttering Group and Passing Twice (LGBT who stutter), published articles, workshop facilitator, featured in multiple articles about the stuttering experience, and a guest on Stutter Talk and NPR. A graduate of New York University Silver School of Social Work, she currently maintains a private practice in New York City. Elizabeth can be reached at ektherapy.com. ​My pronouns are she/her/hers.

Nicole Feist

Nicole Feist, LMSW, MPA, COMS, TVI, CVRT is the coordinator of a disability rehabilitation program. Her practice focuses on supporting adults adapting to disability of themselves or their family members. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker with two national Blind Rehab certifications. She provides clinical services in English, Spanish, French and American Sign Language.

Sandra Feist

Sandra Feist, LCSW-R has over 15 years of experience providing and supervising mental health services for New Yorkers in all parts of the life cycle.  She began her career working with middle school aged children at the Brooklyn Guidance Center, and most recently served as SVP for Clinical Services at the Service Program for Older People, an agency for adults age 55 and over.  A graduate of New York University Silver School of Social Work, she currently maintains a private practice specializing in the treatment of anxiety, adjustment to life role transitions, aging, and relationship issues.
